The slit bushing is a
development of Jörn GmbH.
Quality is a question of
the design principle. The slit bushing allows the highest possible load
capacity of all socket types based on elastomer with identical installation
space. It couldn’t be more compact. How does that work? – No other type of
socket allows preload at this level. Preload is the key to service life. Unlike
conventional bushings, the slot bushing has a slotted outer tube. The slot continues in the
rubber body and possibly in the intermediate plates and tapers
to the inner tube. Thus, multi-layer slot bushings
achieve a high preload up to the innermost rubber layer. Why intermediate plates at all? – Thick rubber
layers are required for high twisting possibilities. However, this reduces
radial stiffness to an undesirable extent. Intermediate plates
multiply the radial stiffness again. This is why multi-layer slotted
bushings are so outstandingly suited for applications as swivel joints.
Maximallasten unter Spannung
The rubber body of the slit
bushing is surrounded by a preload. This is designed in such a way that it is
not fully compensated for all radial loads that occur. The rubber layer is
therefore under pressure even at maximum loads, which considerably extends its
service life.
Unlike conventional bushings, there are no shrink stresses for slit bushings. The slitted outer tube simply gives way.
Here you will find more detailed explanations about our slot bushings, the technology behind them and the possible applications.
