Many joints must allow twists of a few degrees. At such bearing points with swivel angles of up to 70°, rubber-metal components from Jörn offer clear advantages over plain bearings or rolling bearings. The movement takes place purely elastically in the rubber. The elastomer components are maintenance-free and dirt-resistant, as there is no gap through which dirt can penetrate. In addition to compensating for misalignment, the rubber metal components from Jörn are able to dampen shocks and vibrations.
Rubber-metal parts are continuously replacing classic bearing types, such as plain bearings or rolling bearings, in vehicle construction and agricultural equipment.

Rubber-metal bushings allow the compensation of misalignment, e.g. with hydraulic connections
Almost all of our rubber metal components are designed in
such a way that the rubber packages are under preload when installed. This
significantly increases the load capacity and service life.
When twisted, the bearings tension like a torsion spring
and then relax back into the starting position.
There are some important aspects to consider when
designing such bearing points that are subject to rotation. In addition to
continuous load and peak load, the angle of rotation in size and frequency
plays a decisive role.
Therefore, each application must be considered
individually to determine whether rubber-metal bushings can show their
advantages here.
For applications with large rotation angles or even
rotation, it is possible to design the inner tube as a plain bearing.
These bearings are provided with a slot and are pressed by the preload force of
the rubber packs. In the event of wear on the plain bearing, these adjust
continuously, so that the bearings always fit. So there is no gap into
which dirt can penetrate or the bearing point gets play.
Jörn GmbH presents another application. Today, Mr. Reinke shows how slit bushings can replace plain bearings in tillage equipment, especially cultivators with overload protection. Have fun!
