Innovations are basically an essential
part of the DNA of Jörn GmbH. Thus, some designs of today’s common rubber-metal
components can be traced back to developments of the company Jörn, among others
Jörn developed the slit bushing, the ball joint, the leaf spring eye bearing,
the flanged bushing and the multi-layer compression spring with integrated stop
and patented at that time.
And even today, INNOVATION is very important to Jörn. There are currently about 60 active patents and an average of 5 new patents per year.
The developments of recent years include fire-protected elastomer components for railway applications, maintenance-free components for bicycle suspension, condition monitoring for rubber metal parts and, last but not least, lightweight joints, which save costs in addition to weight – which is already in the name. This is innovative. In most cases, lightweight construction leads to deteriorated mechanical properties but above all to higher costs.
In the new part of the series Secrets of Jörn GmbH, Mr. Reinke explains the innovation process at Jörn.
